Notes:

  • Shown are an original copy from early 1952 and a reissue from later that year. The covers are the same (both carry number GF 000 10) but the labels are different. The first pressing has an unboxed speed designation on the labels, the printing colors are different too.

  • The cover is an example of one of the standard album designs Philips used before introducing cover art specific for a release. This is the very first standard cover used by Philips.

  • The cover (both versions) is gatefold and the scans show the front cover, the left and right inside panels, the (empty) back cover and the labels. I’ve worked a bit on the labels of the original issue and these are shown following the unedited label scans.

  • The earliest mention of this release on Delpher is from Feb. 16, 1952 (“Vrije Geluiden”); click here to see it. The website of Stichting Vinyl Voorgoed (see Links page) assumes this is a 1952 release, because no ads from 1951 can be found where this album is mentioned. I guess this is correct; 1952 it is.
  • Philips re-released this title several times, with different cover art and as part of the Favourites-series (with a new number: S 06028 R).
