Notes:

  • This is a very early Philips 10 inch album, released in early 1952. It has the speed designation unboxed and the labels are red with golden lettering. The cover is an example of one of the standard album designs Philips used before introducing cover art, specific for a release. This is the very first standard cover used by Philips.

  • This is a gatefold release and the scans show the front cover, the left and right inside panels, the (empty) back cover, the labels as they show (unedited) and the labels after they’ve been worked on to make it all a bit more readable.

  • The earliest mention of this release on Delpher is from Feb. 16, 1952 (“Vrije Geluiden”); click here to see it. The website of Stichting Vinyl Voorgoed (see Links page) assumes this is a 1952 release, because no ads from 1951 can be found where this album is mentioned. I assume this is correct and thus take 1952 as the year of release.

  • Philips re-released this title several times, with different cover art and as part of the favourites-series (with a new number: S 06028 R).
