Notes:
- This is one of the first LP’s released by Philips in late 1951, but I’m not sure if the first album shown above is a first pressing. It could have been released somewhat earlier too, with a cover that looks like this one. The first album shown above is definitely one of the earliest pressings, with an unboxed speed designation on the cover and the labels. The cover is gatefold; all four panels of the gatefold are shown in the image slider. The back cover is blank, apart from the cover number (GF 00013), shown in the bottom right corner.
- The second version (1952) has a boxed speed designation on the labels, but not on the cover. The front cover presents more information about this album than the first version, in a slightly different way (though it’s roughly the same cover design) and the cover is no longer gatefold. Instead, the left inner panel of the first cover is now used as the back cover, with a little illustration replacing the frame with more detailed information about the performances. This information was moved to the front cover on this second release. The cover number (GF 000.20) is shown at the bottom left corner of the front cover.
- The third version shown here, is likely from 1953 and features a totally different front cover (now with a boxed speed designation as well). Remarkable detail: on the back cover, Grieg’s name is presented with his first names only (Edvard Hagerup), with no mention of his last name. Apart from this, the back cover used for this version is the same as the 1952 version. The cover number (GF 000.40) is shown at the bottom right corner of the front cover.
- A 00101 L is a 12 inch album and it was reissued several times in the 10 inch format, f.i. on Philips A 00734 R (1955), Philips S 06101 R (1956) and Philips G 05312 R (1958). In the US, this album was first released on Epic LC 3007 in 1953.
